What is prop 52?

Prop 52, also known as the Medi-Cal Hospital Fee Program, was a ballot measure in California that was approved by voters in November 2016. It aimed to extend an existing hospital fee program that helped fund healthcare services for low-income and uninsured patients in the state. The program was set to expire in 2019, but Prop 52 made it permanent. The measure also required the funds to be used solely for Medi-Cal, the state's Medicaid program, and not diverted to other purposes. The projected revenue from the program is estimated to be around $3 billion annually.
